Program Summary
This workshop is designed to develop the ability to build, lead, and participate in high-performing teams. The workshop draws from the fields of psychology, management, strategy, and sociology to discuss best practices for designing, launching, participating in, and coaching in-person and virtual teams. The workshop also focuses on the benefits and challenges of managing diverse teams, using teams in various contexts, understanding and managing conflict, and developing problem-solving techniques for team effectiveness.
Outcomes/Objectives
Upon completion of this workshop, participants are able to:
Launch and manage a team to deliver desired outcomes
Establish team roles and responsibilities effectively
Understand stages of team development and their impact
Manage team dynamics and team meetings
Harness the power of team diversity
Assess team functioning and performance
Utilize team troubleshooting techniques
Decide when (and when not) to use a team at work
Launch a team project effectively, including selecting team members and managing roles and responsibilities
Facilitate key team processes, including decision making, conflict management, and inclusion of diverse team members
Identify common problems that derail teams and strategies for addressing them
Use best practices for complex teams (e.g., teams with rotating membership or geographically distributed members)
Earning Requirements
Participants must complete a self-reflection activity, synthesizing their key learnings and outlining action plans for implementation.
