Program Summary
The Center for Urban Science + Progress' (CUSP) Urban Computing Skills Lab is designed to equip students in the Master’s program in Applied Urban Science and Informatics with foundational programming skills and an understanding of urban informatics. Tailored for students from diverse professional and academic backgrounds, the course provides essential training in Python programming, enabling participants to analyze and address urban challenges using real-world data. Through online tutorials, readings, lectures, and hands-on projects, students gain the technical proficiency and analytical mindset required to navigate urban informatics computing.
Outcomes/Objectives
Upon completion students will be able to:
Conduct end-to-end analyses of urban datasets, including cleaning, processing, analyzing, and visualizing data.
Load, process, and work with data in Jupyter Notebooks.
Develop a strong foundation in Python programming to solve urban challenges and communicate insights effectively.

Programming assignments
Supplementary online tutorials
Urban challenge analysis project
